Rio Innovation Week
Learn everything about the Clean Up The World platform: with the curatorship of the Climate Institute and Amigança Productions!
Held at the Brazilian Jockey Club in January of this year. RIW came with big national and international names, moving more than 300 million Reais, raising the spirits of the hotel businesses in the state, in addition to having been a big encouragement for thousands of young entrepreneurs and for the next generation of new businesses. This marvelous event already conquered a special place on the Event Agenda of Rio de Janeiro, as the largest event of its category in Latin America, and there is another edition set for November of this year.
The Clean Up The World platform happened between the 15th and 16th of January (Saturday and Sunday), with various attractions. The international environmental leader Céline Cousteau, granddaughter of the legendary Jacques Cousteau, presented a great keynote, whose theme was Innovation and Nature: a Global History, on the morning of the 15th, which was transmitted to more than 20 million people by UTV Brazil Network and Bem Mais TV, in addition to YouTube. Celine was considered the main attraction at RIW on the 15th of January.
Like us, Céline supports the signing of the letter that preserves and defends the State Law 8.473 that establishes new rules to the substitution of traditional plastic bags for returnable ones.

We also learned more about the Shoreline Recycle Project with Renato Paquet and Mateus Pecanha. This special day was also marked by the panel Ocean Planet, with our very special dear Céline Cousteau and with Dr. Simone Pennafirme from the city hall of Rio de Janeiro.
The 16th was marked by the opening of the activities with a speech by Plastic Oceans International Latin America Director Mark Minnebo, that focused on our unprecedented representation of Blue Communities Brazil/Plastic Oceans International, and the importance that we urgently preserve our oceans, protecting them from the millions of plastics that end up being improperly discharged incorrectly. Next, we counted on a series of selected speeches like: Taz from Magikk, Maria Thereza from ESG Tech Tesouro Verde, Dr. Amaury Sustainability Director of FEBRABAN, Miguel from Plastic Bank. We also learned about the Rio Shoreline Project, presented broadly by Pedro Evora, Arno Rebelo, Mauricio Andrade, and Paulo Rosnam; Donato Velloso from Environmental Rescue Pact, Renato Velloso from ShopSustentavel, and closing with a golden key, with a nice presentation by prof. Leonardo Marques, Coordinator of the Design class at ESPM – Rio. At this date we also counted on a panel about Circular economy by Beatriz Luz with Paulo Protasio and Maya Colombani as guests.
Still on Sunday the 16th, in the morning, Céline Cousteau flew over the Wonderful City with us by helicopter, loaned to us by the renowned Taxi Aero Marica, represented by Commander Ricardo Assad. The landing was at GOC, Golf Olympic Course, where Céline could meet and became happy with the reception of the CEO and GOC and ECP’s President Carlos Favoreto. Céline praised the impeccable maintenance, beauty, and preservation of the Olympic Golf Course at Barra da Tijuca.
We are already moving the activities for the next edition of the event, which will be held in November of this year! We will have big innovations! For more information about the second edition.
